Kalk Bay
About 2 weeks ago, we went to Kalk Bay for Jake's birthday drinks. Kalk Bay's a quaint little seaside town lined with curio shops crammed full of random stuff... stuff from your grandma's closet, stuff from the old naval base round the corner in Simon's Town, stuff which you don't find in modern-day stores... it's a completely different vibe down there, and we hung out at a bar called Cape to Cuba, which is a bar done up Havana, Cuba style. Supposedly. (I've never been there so I wouldn't know... but it definitely has an exotic vibe about it). It's a beautiful beach-shack vibe made out of zinc roofs and painted wood-plank walls, and the attached Cuban restaurant next door is also crammed full of trinkets and ornaments, with hanging glass lamps and Che posters... was so distracted by the place that I forgot to take pix while we were there.
We ended up having fish and chips by the pier at Kalky's... yummy and fresh, served by real-life rough fisherwomen (who were yelling and smoking as they served you).
